The Worst Day Ever!

It turns out that I cannot watch Grey’s Anatomy online from Japan. That’s it, I’m getting on the first flight back…

Just kidding

But this is great-After sitting in the massage chair in the wireless room for half an hour (heaven!), I went out to dinner with Anna, the girl living in the room next door. There are not a lot of women around so we decided to go out. I wanted to go to Sushi-go-round (as I mentioned in the last post…) but she is not a sushi eater so we bailed on that plan (and I feel I failed since I did not have sushi today…) So we started looking around for a place to go. I convinced her to be brave and we stepped off the street to restaurant with no English and no English speakers. We pointed and enacted until we got miso soup, salad (complete with corn and mayonnaise), yakatori (chicken skewers) over rice. And water, glasses of water (mizu is the word for water).

It was the funnest and totally ridiculous and the fact that we got edible food is miraculous to me.

Well, it was not the funnest because the funnest was after we went to the 100 yen store on top of the train station (the K-Q line station in Yokosuka). Oh, did I get some goodies!

So I am bummed that there was no sushi but we made an amazing evening of it and I had fun with Anna. Oh, she is a dentist and newly stationed here for the next two years part of a scholarship deal. (they paid for school, she owed them time). She is excited about being here EXCEPT for the boyfriend back home and her ailing grandfather back home.

What a cool adventure.

I won’t do it again because, well, I thought dinner was gross and I really just like sushi. BUT that is not the point-the point is, I had a great time, saw more of Yokosuka, and um, hmmm….and I bought a whole bunch of fun stuff for a couple hundred yen. (1 yen=1 pen so it was the $1 store-which clearly I need to spend more time at…especially if they are this fun in the US!)
